Under the general coordination of Professor Michel Misse, from the Center of Studies on Citizenship, Conflict and Urban Violence (NECVU) of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), the "Public Safety Survey at the Borders" was held in 09 states. The objective was to make a diagnosis about the situation of Public Security, Socioeconomic and the structuring of the State in the provision of security to the citizens and in the control of transnational crimes in the areas of municipalities located in the border strip of Brazil. The project counted on research in secondary sources in 588 municipalities; sample survey in 178 municipalities and field work sample 55 municipalities. In Pará, professors from PPGSP integrated the local research team. Professor José José Barp led the local coordination of the project, which also had the collaboration of Professors Luis Fernando Cardoso and Fernanda Valli Nummer.

The project "Violence and Prejudice in the School" has the objective to present theoretical subsidies that can contribute to the proposal of public policies that help in the confrontation of violence and prejudice in the school; Build foundations for the elaboration of a National Program to combat violence and prejudice in school; Conduct a survey of documents and public policies developed by federal, state and municipal governments on violence and prejudice in school; To demonstrate the state of the art about violence and prejudice in school, highlighting the conceptions and approaches on these themes and successful practices, in the search of coping with these phenomena; Listening to the school community (education professionals, students and parents) about their experiences and impressions about violence and prejudice, as well as about their coping strategies. The project counts on the participation of professors Jaime Luiz Cunha de Souza and Fernanda Valli Nummer in its team.
